NHL Seattle holds breath as league and players try to avoid potential 2020 labor stoppage

NHL owners and players have apparently made progress in talks aimed at changing the league's "escrow'' salary withholding system in efforts to avert a possible work stoppage next fall. Players have until next week to decide whether to continue with the current collective bargaining agreement beyond September 2020 or terminate it two years early.
